Using the "Mystic Egg" white china incense burner

The Mystic Egg incense burner isn't just big (5" / 13cm high) and good-looking... it's also very versatile.

You can use it to burn dhoop sticks, incense sticks, incense cones or logs, small incense coils, even my Tibetan healing incense... and the base catches all the ash.

The following close-up photos of the egg (showing just the base, with the top removed so you can see what's going on) demonstrate a few of the options...

USING THE MYSTIC EGG TO BURN DHOOP STICKS:

Dhoop sticks (like the small Chinese sticks supplied with the Mystic Egg, or the Padmini Dhoop stick shown here) are simply inserted in the holes provided in the ball in the base of the egg.

Although only one stick is shown in the photo, you can burn up to three at once... one in each hole.

USING THE MYSTIC EGG TO BURN INCENSE CONES OR LOGS:

Incense cones or logs are placed on the bottom of the egg, around the central ball.

You can burn as many as you like, providing they fit in the available space... but you'll probably find a maximum of four at a time is best.

USING THE MYSTIC EGG TO BURN INCENSE COILS:

Small incense coils (like the Heaven (Tian brand) variety shown here) can be supported on top of the central ball.

You can only burn one at a time... and you'll need to light it before placing it in the base, so take care not to burn your fingers!

USING THE MYSTIC EGG TO BURN INCENSE STICKS:

Most ordinary incense sticks are 8 - 10" long, so they're too big to fit inside the egg when the top is in place... but if you cut a stick in half (ordinary scissors will do the job easily) you can insert both pieces into the holes in the central ball, as shown here.

USING THE MYSTIC EGG TO BURN TIBETAN HEALING INCENSE:

My Tibetan healing incense sticks are too fat to fit in the holes in the central ball... but if you partly fill the base of the egg with some fine, dry sand you can use it to hold the incense, as shown.

You can burn as many sticks at a time as you can fit in... but two or three is probably a sensible maximum.
