Edonishiki Iki Incense is a high-quality Japanese Incense developed to represent the gentle and soft fragrances associated with the Edo period of Japan (1603 CE to 1868 CE) famous for Samurai warriors. This was founded by Tokugawa Ieyasu, so this time is also known as the Edo Tokugawa period.
The fragrance from this Incense is complex! We find it to be a delicate floral with distinct spicy notes. Its light smoke is indicative of the high-quality charcoal used in the combustible base mix, which in no way inhibits or taints the fragrance. There is a lot to 'listen' to when burning these sticks, which also have great throw for such a delicate fragrance.
The box features another important cultural element from Edo Japan - Edo Komon. This is where a single traditional Japanese pattern is repeated many times. In samurai society, people pursued colour and patterns that represented strength and self-confidence.
