Kohden Sandalwood has a relaxing, breezy perfume with a distinct Sandalwood note. With supporting ingredients in the blend of Ginger and Japanese Mugwort, this incense offers a fine and mellow woody fragrance.
Sandalwood is frequently found in incense products - the aroma is known for its long-lasting nature. Within Buddhist cultures, Sandalwood scent is believed to transform one's desires and maintain a person's alertness whilst meditating. Soft, warm and smooth are others words that come to mind when 'listening to' (burning) this variety in the Kohden range.
Be assured that natural musk (from animals) is NOT used in this product - for ethical reasons, Nippon Kodo only use synthetic musk in all their 'musk' products.
Kohden is Japanese for 'To convey fragrance' and reflects a heritage of Japanese incense that has been influenced by contact with other regions of the world. Over the centuries, incense ingredients and arabesque patterns came to Japan through the Silk Road from the Middle East. Kohden is packaged in herbal motif arabesque boxes to show respect for the ancient people who carried the incense into Japan. Further, the sticks are wrapped in Japanese paper and a stick holder/burner is included too.
